Manuscript Preparation
All original research articles should be structured in the following manner.
1. Title
The title should be concise and reflect the entire work of the submitted manuscript. (The title should be in Times New Roman, 14 point bold font, Title case)
2. Affiliation
Below the title, all author names should be mentioned along with affiliation of each author. (Times New Roman, 12 point font, Sentence case)
1. Affiliation details should include;
- Department
- University/ Organization
- City with Pincode
- State & Country
2. Each author’s affiliation should be identified by a superscript small numeral.
3. Author for correspondence should be indicated by an asterisk.
4. Provide full address including e-mail and telephone number of Author for correspondence.
3. Abstract
Abstracts should be written continuously (Times New Roman, 12 point font). It should clearly state
- The purpose of the work
- Methods used
- Key findings and major conclusion drawn from the work in no more than 500 words
- Use of abbreviations in abstract should be avoided however if essential should be expanded at its first appearance
4. Keywords
The author should provide 4 to 6 keywords, characterizing the scope of the paper; Keywords should be written in title case and separated by comma. Avoid general and plural terms and multiple concepts (avoid, for example, 'and', 'of').
5. Headings
The section headings should be numbered continuously using Arabic numerals (1, 2, 3... and so on). (Please do not number the abstract). It should be formatted in Times New Roman, 12 point bold font, title case Subsection headings should be numbered as follows. They should be in italics, Times New Roman, 12 point bold font
For example: 2. MATERIALS & METHODS
2.1. Bacterial strains
2.1. 1. Hosts for cloning
6. Introduction
State the background and mention clearly the objective of the present work. (Formatting: Times New Roman, 11 point font, Line spacing 1.5)
7. Materials and Methods
All methods used should be clearly mentioned. This will allow other researchers to reproduce your work. Wherever required, give correct formula used for calculation (Formatting: Times New Roman, 11 point font, Line spacing 1.5)
8. Results
Results obtained in the study should be subjected to appropriate statistical methods and presented clearly. The findings should never be discussed in this section. (Formatting: Times New Roman, 11 point font, Line spacing 1.5)
9. Discussion
It should have rationale and be of relevance to the present study along with the existing literature. Discuss the lacuna in the area and to how much extent the present study has answered the research question and provides directions for further research. Please avoid repeating the Results of your studies under this section. (Formatting: Times New Roman, 11 point font, Line spacing 1.5)
10. Conclusion
Give the major conclusion from the present study. This section may stand alone or be clubbed together with discussion.
11. Acknowledgements
Acknowledge those persons who helped you in the present study by providing facilities, personal assistance and funding if any.
12. Conflict of interest statement:
The authors may declare any conflicts of interests that may have influenced the outcome of the research here
13. References
KJCAB follows the referencing style described below
a. In-text citations
- Reference shall be cited with author names and year in the text of article. It should be formatted in Times New Roman, 11 point font, Italics and be inside parenthesis. The last name of the author should be given followed by the first and middle names as the initials
- The author name and the year should be separated by a comma “,”. In case of articles with more than two authors, only the first author should be cited followed by “et al.” If two authors are cited the author names should be separated by an ‘and’
Example:
Single author-(Gilbert DA, 2018)
Two authors: (Gilbert DA & Maxim C, 2018)
More than two authors: (Gilbert DA et al., 2018)
If more than one paper is cited, they should be separated with semicolons and arranged in forward chronological order Example
(Gilbert DA, 2018; Bruce G and Garry C, 2019; Wilson VG et al., 2020)
b. Reference List
- References which are cited in the text should be mentioned here.
- It should appear at the end of your text.
c. Referencing journal articles
- Elements of the Citation: Author(s) – Last name and initials (Publication year). Title of article. Title of journal – abbreviated. Volume (issue): pages
- Multiple author names should be separated with commas. If the paper has more than ten authors list only the first ten followed by et al.
Example:Gilbert DA, Barry GA, Kumar A (2005). Treatment of human brucellosis: systematic review and meta-analysis of randomised controlled trials. Sci. Rep. 336 (7646): 701-4.
d. Referencing Books
- Elements of the Citation: Author(s) – Last name and initials (Year of Publication). Title of the book, Publisher Name, Place of Publication.
Example: McKenna DJ, Jones K, Hughes K (2000). Social care practice in rural communities. Oxford University Press, New York
d. Referencing Books
- Elements of the Citation: Author(s) – Last name and initials (Year of Publication). Title of the chapter, In: Name of the editors., Title of the book. Edition of book if later than 1st ed. Publisher Name, Place of Publication
Example: Rowlands TE, Haine LS (2009). Acute limb ischaemia. In: Donnelly R, London NJM eds., ABC of arterial and venous disease. 2nd ed. Blackwell Publishing, West Sussex
Table formatting
- Tables should be numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text.
- They should be embedded in appropriate locations as per the text along with the captions.
- Place Legends for tables below the table body and indicate them with lowercase letters in superscript.
- Avoid vertical rules and ensure that the data presented in tables do not duplicate results described elsewhere in the article.
- Please note that tables embedded as Excel files within the manuscript are NOT accepted.
- Tables in Excel should be copied and pasted into the manuscript Word file.
Figures
- These must be numbered and cited in the text.
- Mark clearly in the margin of the manuscript where the figure is to be inserted and do not embed in the text.
- Tables should be numbered consecutively in accordance with their appearance in the text.
- All figures should be in TIFF.
- Images provided should be with below mentioned resolutions:
Black & White Images | 900 dpi |
Coloured Images | 600 dpi |
Line art-grey colour | 600 dpi |
- Photo resolution should be minimum 300 dpi.
- Histograms should be presented in a simple, two-dimensional format, with no background grid.
- Supply figure captions separately and not attached to the figure.
- The legends should be provided along with the figures.
